Primary Animals Raised: Pigs, Poultry

Cox Hill Farm is a regenerative, pasture-based farm in Belleville, Illinois, raising livestock in a way that restores the land while producing nourishing, local food. Founded by Caitlin and Reed Cox, the farm focuses on soil health, animal welfare, and transparency from start to finish. Every species plays a role in the ecosystem, from grazing, rooting, and fertilizing to rebuild the land naturally. Through rotational grazing, regenerative management, and locally sourced feed, Cox Hill Farm works to leave the soil healthier each year while providing their community with food raised the right way.

Raising Practices

  • Pasture-Raised Poultry: Chickens and turkeys are raised outdoors on fresh pasture and moved regularly to new ground. This rotation keeps birds clean and healthy while naturally fertilizing the soil and promoting rich biodiversity across the farm.
  • Pasture-Raised Pork: Pigs live on open pasture and in wooded areas where they can root, dig, and wallow freely, which are all behaviors essential to their well-being. Their diet includes locally milled, non-GMO feed that complements what they forage from the land.
  • No Hormones or Routine Antibiotics: Animals are never given added hormones, steroids, or routine antibiotics. Healthy living conditions and clean pastures eliminate the need for preventive medication, ensuring natural, stress-free growth.
  • Regenerative and Local: Every practice at Cox Hill Farm from rotational grazing to on-farm composting is designed to rebuild soil, enhance water retention, and strengthen the farm’s ecosystem. By keeping their processing and sales local, Caitlin and Reed close the loop between land, farmer, and community.
