Lutz Family Farms
Primary Animals Raised: Cattle, Pigs, Sheep
Lutz Family Farms is a fifth-generation family farm located in central Wisconsin, where the Lutz family has cared for the same land for more than a century. Their commitment to stewardship and sustainability guides everything they do, from maintaining rich, healthy soils to raising animals with respect and transparency. On their 140-acre farm, they produce 100% grass-fed beef, grass fed grain finished beef, and pasture-raised pork, combining traditional practices with modern best practices to ensure exceptional quality from pasture to plate.
Raising Practices
- 100% grass-fed and finished beef: Cattle graze on pasture during the growing season, then transition to an outdoor finishing space where they are fed hay from the farm’s own fields, remaining fully grass-fed throughout their lives.
- Grass-fed, grain-finished beef: Cattle spend their lives grazing on open pasture before being finished on a balanced ration of grains to develop rich marbling and flavor.
- Pasture-raised pork: Pigs roam freely on pasture with access to shade, shelter, and supplemental feed, allowing them to express natural behaviors and thrive outdoors.
- Rotational grazing: Livestock are moved frequently between paddocks to prevent overgrazing, encourage regrowth, and naturally fertilize the soil.
- No added hormones or unnecessary antibiotics: Animals are raised naturally, with veterinary care used only when needed for wellbeing.
-
Soil stewardship: Continuous soil testing and nutrient management preserve fertility and biodiversity for generations to come.
